October, 25th, 2016. Award-Winning Cartoonist, Artist, Author and Writer, Jim Weicherding, adds two more Awards to his long list of Recognitions & Honors for his ongoing work in regards to Child, Teen and Family Safety Outreach Efforts in New England and Nationwide. Jim was just Honored and Recognized once again at an Awards Ceremony and Community Heroes Event held in the assembly hall located in the Community of Burrillville, Rhode Island on the night of October, 25th, 2016. Jim was presented with a Community Service Recognition Award from The Rhode Island Department of Attorney General and another Glass Plaque Community Hero Award from the Burrillville Police Department for his continued creative efforts to try and prevent injuries and save lives especially regarding Child Passenger Safety and Family Safety in that community and communities across the USA. His popular Child Passenger Safety Cartoon Character, BUCKLEUPALLOFUS, for Kids Safety, and his proven to be very effective, The SAFE And The SERIOUS Traffic Safety Campaign for Family Safety, were recognized in the speech given by Major Dennis Leahy of the Burrillville Police Department to an audience of 350 that packed the hall on a clear and cool fall evening. The Major ending his speech honoring Jim with the words: “Jim is a True Champion for Safety.” Dozens of RI State Troopers, Colonels, Police Chiefs, Police Officers and Public Safety Advocates shook hands and congratulated Jim for his newly presented Awards and thanked him for his hard work trying to keep Kids and Families Safer in the state of Rhode Island, New England and Communities Nationwide. Other Recent Awards include a Recognition and Appreciation Service Plaque presented to Jim by The US Department of Transportation and NHTSA, (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), a Star Achievement Award presented by Safe Kids Worldwide located in Washington, DC. and a Citizen Service Medal presented by the State of Rhode Island, RI Department of Highway Safety, RI State Police and RI Police Departments Statewide. All of these Awards, Recognitions and Citizen Service Medal were presented to Jim for his years of tireless dedication and creative community service to try and prevent injuries and save lives regarding Kids and Families on roadways across the USA.
